FAILED DRUG AND ALCOHOL TEST

An employee tested positive on a DOT drug test, failed a DOT alcohol test, or Refused a DOT-required drug or alcohol test.

EDUCATION AND/OR TREATMENT

The SAP makes treatment and/or educational recommendations that the employee is required to complete.

EMPLOYEE RECEIVES A LIST OF SAP

Your employer must provide you with a list of substance abuse professionals (SAP)

FOLLOW UP EVALUATION

Once the employee successfully completes the treatment and/or educational recommendations. The employee does a  follow-up evaluation, the SAP issues a written determination of the employee’s eligibility (or ineligibility) to return to their safety sensitive job.

DESIGNATE A SAP

The employer must seek a face-to-face evaluation from a qualified SAP.

NEGATIVE RTD TEST

Employee completes a return to duty drug and/or alcohol. Must be negative to return to duty if positive employee must start the process over and a new violation is entered.
